Abe and Gail Kroeker, owners of Auction World, have personal experience with brain injury as their son Troy was in a serious motor vehicle crash that changed his—and his family’s—life forever.  Troy broke his back, jaw, punctured his lung and sustained multiple life threatening injuries, the most serious of which was his brain injury. After being in a coma for several months, he endured years of physical therapy where he re-learned life skills such as walking, talking and eating. However, his permanent impairment is the brain injury. As most of his challenges are ‘cognitive’ in nature, they are difficult for others to understand as they are “invisible” on the outside.

Brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability under the age of 44—every three minutes someone sustains brain injury.  BrainTrust Canada has provided community rehabilitation support to individuals with brain injury since 1986 and also have a strong focus on brain injury prevention and education, especially for youth who are at highest risk. For more information visit www.braintrustcanada.com or call Magda Kapp at 250-762-3233 local 115.

Title sponsor Auction World is joined by media sponsors Castanet, Kelowna Capital News, Daily Courier, Power 104/Q103, AM1150/SUN/EZ Rock and K96.3/Country 100.7.  Graphic design for this fundraiser is provided by DB Design, with signage from SignCraft Kelowna.
