Friendly Visitor Program of the MS Society of Canada

Qualifications include a minimum six month commitment, a strong sense of dependability, a caring and friendly demeanor.

Friendly visitors are remarkable individuals who recognize that visiting an individual living with MS in a community care facility can help change a life.

The program provides people with MS opportunities to interact with a member of the community that is outside of the family and health care profession.

There are many benefits of becoming a friendly visitor, such as improved interpersonal skills, discovery of personal strengths, and satisfaction in knowing you are improving the quality of life of another individual.

Qualifications and requirements include a minimum six month commitment, a strong sense of responsibility and dependability, a caring and friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Following the completion of an application, an interview and proper screening, the volunteer will be matched with a person with MS. Visitors will receive comprehensive training before the initial visit and continued support as needed throughout the program.

You can make a difference. For more information about volunteering for this program, please call Sherry at 250-762-5850 or e-mail sherry.wezner@mssociety.ca
