Three good friends recently joined forces to raise money for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation Cardiac/Stroke Fund.
Tessa Monaghan, 12, and her friends visiting from New York City, Peyton and Kathleen Stewart, wanted to raise money by operating a lemonade stand for a day in their neighbourhood, then decided there wasn’t enough foot traffic where the Monaghan family lived on a weekday.
So the motivated entrepreneurial trio took their venture downtown.
Operating at the corner of Bernard and Ellis, the girls sold lemonade and homemade chocolate cookies. “We have done this two years in a row now and it feels great to donate the money instead of spending it on ourselves.
“We had fun making the cookies together and selling them. The people that bought stuff were generous and said they tasted great. Some even gave us donations without taking anything,” said Peyton, 12.
The kids raiased $161.10.
