SPCA fundraiser set for City Park

The BC SPCA invites the public to join in the Paws for a Cause Walk to Fight Animal Cruelty fundraiser.

Some animals never know kindness. The good news is, you can fight animal cruelty in your community.

Local residents can join their business community and help put an end to animal cruelty.

The BC SPCA invites the public to join London Drugs and Quality Greens in their efforts to help raise money for this year’s Scotiabank and BC SPCA Paws for a Cause Walk to Fight Animal Cruelty fundraiser.

This signature provincial event will be held in 36 communities around the province on Sunday, Sept. 7, including in Kelowna at City Park.

The event’s main objective is to bring animal cruelty to the forefront and encourage everyone to help the SPCA raise funds for local domestic, farm and wild animals.

Whether your passion is dogs, cats, horses or birds, the SPCA says they need our help.

London Drugs stores  have partnered with the  SPCA as well as Quality Greens in Vernon, Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Penticton to boost the money raised for this event.

For the month of August, your local Quality Greens will be selling dog biscuits while both businesses will be asking for donations at the till, with all proceeds going to the local SPCA shelters to help care for our abandoned, abused and unwanted animals.

The fundraiser includes a one or three kilometer walk, Kids Zone for face painting, bouncy castle, the Paws Parlour, a BarBQ, and special guests, The RCMP canine unit.

“This is the largest single event to help fight animal cruelty in British Columbia,” said Heather Harrison, regional fundraising coordinator at the BC SPCA.

“We are overwhelmed by the amazing participation each year—it’s so great to see thousands of people come together across the province to help B.C.’s most vulnerable animals.

“Our supporters not only raise essential funds, the events are so much fun for two-legged and four-legged participants.”
