The Okanagan, also known as wine country, has a full bodied variety taking the stage.

April Wine are coming to Vernon and Kelowna in May.

The Canadian Music Hall of Famers play May 8 at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre and May 12 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

“They’ve got a great replacement for Myles Goodwyn,” said FJ Hurtak, Kootenay Concert Connection promoter.

The 11-time Juno nominees have released more than 20 albums since 1971 and have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

April Wine’s extensive discography includes many gold and platinum selling albums, which featured mega-hits like Roller, I Like to Rock, You Could Have Been a Lady, You won’t Dance With Me, Tonite is a wonderful Night and many more of some of the top rock songs of all time in Canadian music.

They are perhaps best known for their huge International hit, Just Between You and Me, which was an iconic ballad on MTV.

The band continues to tour throughout North America to this day.

“They haven’t played Vernon for quite a long time,” said Hurtak.

Tickets ($59) for both shows go on sale Friday, Feb. 2 at ticketseller.ca or 250-549-7469 for Vernon and theatre.kelowna.ca or 250-469-8940 for Kelowna.
