A comedy tour raising funds for worthy causes saw one comic undertake a 14-day fast, consuming just water in a bold move to push ticket sales.

Comedian Alex Mackenzie, known for his sharp wit and hilarious stand-up routines, embarked on the extraordinary journey to raise awareness for the Hungry for Laughs Comedy Tour.

The tour features three talented comedians, a mesmerizing stunt magician, and an international foot archer.

It kicked off Oct. 6 in Kamloops and comes to Vernon Friday, Oct. 20 and Kelowna Saturday, Oct. 21.

Partial proceeds from each event will be donated to local non-profit organizations, including the Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon branch and Central Okanagan Food Bank.

This initiative reflects the tour’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Mackenzie’s 14-day water fast serves as a captivating and unconventional fundraising method to draw attention to this noble cause. By pushing the boundaries of endurance,

he aims to inspire individuals to join the cause, purchase tickets to the tour, and support the local non-profits that benefit from these events.

“I believe in the power of laughter and the importance of giving back to the community,” said Mackenzie. “By taking on this challenging water fast, I hope to raise awareness for the Hungry for Laughs Comedy Tour and encourage people to come together in support of our mission. Let’s share the gift of laughter while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
