Multi-CCMA and Juno award winning Canadian country music star Dean Brody is coming to Kelowna as part of World Vision’s annual walk.

On July 8, World Vision is hosting the Global 6K for Water at Tugboat Bay and Brody will be taking over the Island Stage in the afternoon. The Global 6K empowers communities to provide clean water to children and families in Africa.

“My national tour just took us across the country from Ontario to B.C. — and each time I feel the love for our vast country. M’m proud to be back in my hometown province to help World Vision celebrate years of support and partnership in Kelowna,” said Brody.

The day will include prizes, giveaways, opportunities for great photo ops and, of course, and a performance by the B.C. native.

All of Kelowna is invited to either walk, run or wheel their way across the finish line.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. with the Global 6k beginning at 10. The concert starts at 12 p.m. in the park.

Six kilometers is the average distance people – usually women and girls – walk to get water for their families in the developing world. Often, the walk is dangerous and causes children to miss school.
