LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Dennis Hopper, Scott Caan, Tricia Helfer and J.K. Simmons are boarding "A Beginner's Guide to Endings," a dark comedy written and directed by newcomer Jonathan Sobol.

"Endings" centers on three brothers who, upon learning they only have a few days left to live, set off to reverse a lifetime of mistakes.

Hopper and Simmons are playing the brothers' father and uncle, respectively, and Caan is one of the siblings. Helfer plays Caan's girlfriend, a woman with a dangerous past.

Nicholas Tabarrok, whose "Defendor" was one of the few films sold during the Toronto International Film Festival, is producing through his Darius Films banner.

Hopper stars in Starz's "Crash" series. Caan recently appeared on "Entourage," and Helfer is best known for her work in "Battlestar Galactica." Simmons can be seen in the Mike Judge film "Extract."
