Shania to come on over to Kelowna

“It’s party time! The Rock This Country tour will have a different spirit than my past tours," said Twain who will be in Kelowna Oct. 27.

Country superstar Shania Twain will bring her Rock This Country tour to Kelowna this fall.

A concert at Prospera Place on Oct. 27 has been added to the tour, with additional stops in four other smaller Canadian cities.

The additional concerts are in response to fan demand, say promoters, following the success of her tour in major Canadian and U.S. cities since it started last month.

Twain’s albums have sold more than 75 million copies around the world since she burst onto the music scene in the early 1990s, chalking up 17 top 10 singles and the best-selling country album of all time, her 1997 release Come on Over.

Twain recently completed a three-week, sold out run of concerts in Canada as part of the tour.

“This is a celebration tour,” said Twain in announcing the additional Canadian concert dates. “It’s party time! The Rock This Country tour will have a different spirit than my past tours.

“It’s a Shania they’ve never seen before. A lot of years have gone by and I’ve got a lot more to share.”

Loved by legions of fans around the world despite taking eight years off from performing between 2004 and 2012, Twain has won Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2011.

Prior to this tour, Twain had been performing in Las Vegas with her critically acclaimed show Still The One, named after one of her hit songs.

Rising to fame with her self-titled debut album Shania Twain in 1993, Twain, who hails from Timmins, Ont., became a worldwide phenomenon with the release of Come On Over in 1997.

Tickets for the Kelowna concert will go on sale July 24 at 10 a.m. and will be available from the Prospera Place box office, online at selectyourtickets.com or by charge-by-phone at 250-762-5050.
