Torch and flag bearers named for opening ceremonies

Eight athletes from Team Kelowna have been given the honour to be the the International Children's Winter Games torch and flag bearers at the opening ceremonies on Thursday at Prospera Place.

For Mitchell McCullough, speed skating, and Monika Randall, figure skating, it is a dream come true to compete in these Games, and now they have the added excitement of being the torch bearers.

In similiar tradition to the Olympic Games, the ICG Flag will be carried into the arena and passed to six Team Kelowna athletes.  Those 6 athletes will be  Sam Bobyn and Selina Carolei, ice hockey, Gareth Williams, cross country skiing, Kelty Slaney and Ian Johnston, alpine skiing, and Mackenzie Clark, curling.

The ICG flag, which was last raised at the 2010 ICG Summer Games in Manama, Bahrain, will be raised at the Opening Ceremonies.
