Stolen car careens into Kelowna house
Police believe they know who drove a stolen car into a home off Springfield Road on Monday night.
At around 10:30 p.m., witnesses say the driver of a westbound Mercury sedan lost control on Springfield Road and crashed into a house on the corner of Springfield and Ziprick Roads.
The tenants in the home were not injured. Damage to the home is minimal but the vehicle was severely damaged, police say.
After the crash, the driver was seen running onto Ziprick Road and police set up a perimeter in an effort to catch him.
“The driver was not located however investigation has determined the driver's identity,” said Const. Steve Holmes.
Officers also contacted the owner of the vehicle Monday night, just after he said he discovered his vehicle had been stolen while he was visiting friends at a condo complex at the corner of Yates and Valley Roads.
If anyone has information about the incident or the whereabouts of the driver, they are asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
