West Kelowna senior citizen arrested for grow op

If nothing else, the West Kelowna Mounties' recent round of grow op busts proves that drug cultivation can appeal to both young and old.

Members of the drug and general duty sections executed a warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of Cornerstone Drive July 14 and found a sophisticated three room grow op located in the lower level of the home.

Inside they  seized over 840 marijuana plants and located a Hydro electric bypass.

A 29-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were found within the residence and were arrested in connection to the grow op.

"Both were later released on promises to appear in court at a later date to face recommended charges of production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and theft of hydro," said Const. Steve Holmes.

Just a couple days earlier, on July 12, the Mounties also hit paydirt when theysearched a home in the 1300 block of Bear Creek Road on a search warrant.

Nearly 400 plants, half of which were close to harvest, were seized from a Grow Op within the residence. Police also found a Hydro electrical bypass.

The investigation continues into the identification and arrest of those involved.
