Family escapes fire unscathed, home doesn’t
A West Kelowna family of four fled their home after being woken up by the noise of a fire early Tuesday morning.
The family—including two children under the age of two—were able get out of the house uninjured.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 4 a.m. with three engines, a safety officer and a command unit.
The rescue team noticed heavy fire and smoke on the back of the structure, coming from the sun deck. The fire breached the interior of the home, causing damage on the upper floor living area.
The crews did an aggressive interior attack limiting the fire damage to the upper floor with some smoke damage through the rest of the structure.
The family is currently staying with other family members in town.
