Regional District: Two directors elected
Two winners have been declared in the Central Okanagan Regional District civic elections for the Okanagan West and East rural seats.
For Central Okanagan East, Patty Hanson defeated John Collinson by a vote of 272 to 260.
In Central Okanagan West, Jim Edgson was reelected with 250 votes, beating out challengers Davie Robertson, 162, and Aaron Dinwoodie, 98.
It’s estimated there are 3,430 eligible voters in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area director election. The total number of ballots cast is 532.
It’s estimated there are 7,330 eligible voters in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Director election. The total number of ballots cast is 510.
Voters within the North Westside Fire Protection District Service Area also had the opportunity to vote on the following referendum question:
“Are you in favour of the Regional District of Central Okanagan adopting Bylaw No. 1294 to establish a service area within a portion of Central Okanagan West Electoral Area to operate and maintain the Killiney Community Hall, at an annual cost not to exceed $0.05 per $1000 of assessed value of land and improvements on properties within the service area?”
The result of the referendum vote is:
Yes – 174 (61.5%)
No – 109 (38.5%)
