Kelowna man still missing
Kelowna Mounties are still looking for a 49-year-old Kelowna man who went missing last month.
Police received a report of a missing person from a residence on the 1400 block of Cherry Crescent April 30 at 2:15 p.m.
The report indicated that William Hermakin had not been seen since April 26; Hermakin is under medical care and requires medication for his condition.
He left no indication as to where he may be headed or when he might return. It was later determined that he had picked up his ATV from the storage facility where it was normally kept.
Kelowna RCMP located the pickup truck of Hermakin May 20 at 2 p.m., abandoned near the Bellevue Trestle.
Police conducted an extensive search of the area, utilizing Search and Rescue as well as a police service dog, but Hermakin was not located.
Search and Rescue also completed a search along the route between the abandoned truck and ATV.
In addition to the searches complete to date, the Penticton RCMP—with the assistance of an off-duty firefighter—searched Adra Tunnel near where Hermakin's ATV was located last month.
The search was extremely hazardous due to the instability of the tunnel—it required significant time and effort to complete.
Hermakin's whereabouts remain unknown and he has now been missing for a month.
He is described as a five-foot-nine, 185-pound Caucasian man with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a scar on his nose as well as both ears. He was last seen wearing a white and green dress shirt with blue jeans.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Hermakin is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
