Collision near UBCO causes highway closure
Fallen power lines have caused crews to close a section of Highway 97 near the UBCO overpass.
Kelowna Mounties responded to a single vehicle incident at 2:55 a.m. Friday.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to Kelowna General Hospital for injuries.
The crash caused several power lines to drop and block the highway. Fortis B.C. is on scene to deal with the downed power lines and power outages.
The public is asked to access the alternative route of Old Vernon Road at Sexsmith Road if heading north.
Currently one south bound lane of Highway 97 is open to traffic; northbound traffic is still blocked at Edwards Road.
