Kelowna chapter Hells Angel vice-president arrested
Reporters tweeting from inside a police press conference in Vancouver intended to explain why police raided an alleged Hells Angels clubhouse in Kelowna's North End say seven people have been arrested and charged and $4 million seized.
The press conference was not broadcast live throughout the province, but several reporters on the ground inside have posted tweets indicating David Giles, vice-president of the Hells Angels Kelowna chapter, was arrested in the Saturday afternoon operation.
Global reporter Peter Meiszner tweeted that the group also includes several high-ranking HA members and CBC reporter Kirk Williams was the first to post pictures of the $4 million in cash police seized, largely in $50 and $100 bills, and several guns.
RCMP have already stated the raid and arrests, and another raid in Osoyoos, were connected to a Southeast District drug file.
Meanwhile, local CTV reporter Kent Molgat is reporting new locks and doors are being installed on the house located at Ellis Street and Roanoke Avenue in Kelowna's North End.
An official RCMP statement is expected to released online shortly.
