Crash knocks down access to road

A power pole was knocked down and traffic derailed following a crash on Glenmore Road.

A lone male driver and occupant of the vehicle was traveling north on Glenmore Rd near Slater Rd when his vehicle went off the road and struck a Hydro utility pole Oct. 12 at  2:49 a.m.

"The male driver was uninjured in the collision, however the Hydro utility pole sustained extensive damage posing a risk to the motoring public," said Cpl. Bill Parmar.

"As result the accident, Glenmore Road in both directions was closed to traffic just prior to Slater Road. A Fortis crew attended the accident scene and remains on scene to assess the damage and conduct  repairs.  Fortis has disconnected the power in the vicinity of the accident scene."

Glenmore Road was closed to traffic in both directions at Slater Road. Fortis advises that the road closure may last 3-4 hours. Motorists are asked to take an alternate route during the morning commute.
