Kelowna Mounties able to identify injured woman
Family members have come forward to identify a pedestrian who was hit by a bus on Sunday and remains in critical condition at Kelowna General Hospital.
Police say the woman is 73 years-old but have not released any further information as of yet.
The woman sustained serious injuries around 5 p.m. Sunday night when she "stumbled off the sidewalk" near Springfield and Barlee road and was hit by oncoming traffic.
Const. Kris Clark said a converted school bus was turning left, at an undetermined speed, when the woman left the curb and was struck.
"The woman was rushed to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries," said Clark.
Unfortunately, she was without ID or anything else that would help the authorities name her.
All police had to go on was a description of her clothing and a rough approximation of her age.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing, but Clark doesn't believe there will be charges pressed against the driver.
"Rainy weather and poor visibility both appear to be contributing factors in the crash," he said.
