Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club’s Million Shoe Mission has a goal of collecting one million gently used pairs of shoes.
There are over 300 million children in this world with no shoes and they want to help change that.
Three years ago the Soles4Souls shoe drive was started by downtown Kelowna shoe repair shop owner Jim Belshaw, owner of Roy’s Shoes, and 45,000 pairs of shoes the were collected the first year. Since then the total is close to 250,000 pairs collected and distributed.
Soles4Souls in the U.S. has been collecting since 2005 and has brought in more than 19 million pairs of shoes and distributed them in 125 different countries during that time.
