Kelowna RCMP officers save suicidal man's life
Two Kelowna RCMP officers are being credited for helping to save a man's life yesterday after they performed CPR until paramedics could take over.
Monday afternoon, police were informed a 64-year-old man had intentionally overdosed at a residence on the 1400 block of Leaside Avenue.
There was no response at the door when the officers arrived but they found a way in through an attached residence.
The individual was unconscious and unresponsive, and had no vital signs when the officers did their initial assessment. They began CPR immediately, sticking with the effort for several minutes until paramedics could take over.
The BC Ambulance Service paramedics then revived the man and rushed him to hospital.
The man remains in serious condition at the Kelowna General Hospital, but the paramedics are crediting the police officers' actions with saving his life.
