Elderly pedestrians hit in a crosswalk at Gordon Drive in hospital

Two elderly women are in hospital with serious injuries after being hit at the corner of Gordon Drive and Harvey Avenue this morning.

At 6:30 a.m., an RCMP officer happened upon an accident involving the two women who were apparently walking southbound across Harvey Avenue on the west side of Gordon when they were struck by a northbound Toyota Prius.

The vehicle was making a left turn onto Harvey Avenue from Gordon Drive when the accident occurred, the driver failing to notice the pair in the crosswalk. The 78 and 79 year old women are residents of the area.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been laid.

Both women remain in hospital at this time.
