More burning in Rose Valley Regional Park
The regional district is back burning agin in Rose Valley Regional Park.
Today, Monday, controlled open burning is taking place in the park to dispose of debris collected as part of the large fuel modification project that took place there last year. The burning has the approval of, and permits from, West Kelowna Fire Rescue, said RDCO spokesman Bruce Smith.
Monday is the final day burning will be required in this area of the park as all of the debris collected last year will be gone.
Regional Fire Dispatch and West Kelowna Fire Rescue have been advised of today’s burning activity in the park.
Further open burning will still be required when conditions permit as B.C. Wildfire Management plans to dispose of piles collected last year in a two-hectare portion of the park north of Pettman and Bowes Roads.
The regional district says a public announcement will be made, and fire dispatch notified, when that burning is to occur.
