Update: Victims identified in fatal Kelowna collisions
Police have identified all of the people killed in deadly collisions on Kelowna roads Friday evening and have released their names to the public.
The pedestrian killed on Highway 33 at Dougall Road is Robert Perry George, a 54-year-old man who was jay-walking across the highway in the dark Friday evening when he was hit by a 51-year-old man who has not been publicly identified. The driver was uninjured in the crash.
The second and third fatalities occurred the same night in Glenmore. The crash involved a motorcycle and a car on Glenmore Road at Mountain Avenue; the initial statement from police said it is likely the motorcycle was speeding.
The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as David Robert Potts, a 32-year-old Kelowna resident. The driver of the car has been identified as Desiree Janette MacPherson, a 25-year-old Kelowna resident. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 23-year-old woman, who was the passenger injured in the car has serious but not life threatening injures and is also a Kelowna resident. Her name was not released.
Two crashes have left three people dead and one individual with life-threatening injuries after a tragic Friday night on Kelowna roadways.
At 11:24 p.m. a 54-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car on Highway 33 near Dougall Road.
The eastbound vehicle hit the jaywalking pedestrian who was travelling south across the highway. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was unable to see the pedestrian due to darkness.
At 3:25 a.m. a two vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle took place at the intersection of Glenmore Road and Mountain Avenue.
The northbound car attempted a left turn onto Mountain Avenue and was struck by the southbound motorcycle. The 25-year-old driver of the car and the 32 year-old motorcycle operator were pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the car sustained life-threatening injuries and has been transported to Kelowna General Hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was speeding at the time of the collision and the operator was not wearing an approved helmet.
Names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
