RapidBus construction begins in West Kelowna
Representatives from all levels of government arrived at the Westbank Hub Shopping Centre in a city bus Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the start of RapidBus construction in West Kelowna.
The 15 kilometre expansion will include four new transit stations and two exchanges. It will provide users with faster, more frequent public transportation.
"As communities grow, services must grow with them," said Clark.
"RapidBus is one of the best and most useful ways for families, students and seniors to get around quickly and affordably."
The West Kelowna expansion is expected to be complete by next summer.
The entire Kelowna RapidBus project, stretching from Westbank Centre to UBCO, will receive a total $46 million in funding, including $10.9 million from the Building Canada Fund, $6 million from the Gas Tax Fund, $23.9 million from the provincial government, $5.2 million from the City of Kelowna and West Kelowna is contributing land.
