A premier day for the Okanagan College 50th anniversary celebration
Premier Christy Clark has an official Okanagan College jacket, wine cork and pen thanks to an unusual birthday gift exchange that saw the provincial leader receiving the presents, though it was the college marking an anniversary.
With three nurses from the first graduating class of 1963 seated in the front row, the premier told those gathered on campus Friday this province is poised to take a place of leadership in the Canadian economy thanks to the tutelage of colleges like OC.
After joking with the nurses about whether one could smoke in class in the early years—or maybe even the operating room—Clark told her audience she intends to ensure ever young person in the province has the opportunity to succeed.
"We look very, very much forward to continuing to invest in this goal," she said.
The celebration was marked with a large cake and a delectable spread from the culinary arts program.
