Get your lights on campaign underway
The second annual local Get your Lights On Campaign has started and the Kelowna and Area Cycling Coalition wants every cyclists participating.
As the days become shorter, it is important for all cyclists to remember that adequate bike lighting will help to ensure safe early morning and nighttime travel, a KACC press release issued this week states.
KACC is reminding cyclists to make sure they are as visible as possible by getting their lights on and wearing bright and/or reflective clothing.
“Fall riding is great. With cooler temperatures, fresh air and the sights of the season there’s no better time to commute by bike," said Michael Kittmer, active transportation coordinator for the Central Okanagan.
Kittmer encourages all cyclists to make sure the front and rear lights are both working and to use them as soon as dusk descends.
To assist everyone with effective bicycle lighting, these Kelowna and area bike shops are offering a 10 per cent discount on bicycle lights for the month of October.
