Celebrating National Aboriginal Day in Kelowna
Like many communities across Canada, today is National Aboriginal Day and it is being celebrated in Kelowna.
The Ki-Lo-Na Friendship Centre has organized a number activities in the parking lot at the corner of Lawrence and Ellis to mark the occasion.
There are aboriginal arts and crafts for sale, an aboriginal tacos food stand and entertainment planned or throughout the day.
National Aboriginal Day was formally proclaimed in 1996. June 21 was chosen for the day because of the cultural significance of the summer solstice.
