Lake Country firefighters were hopping busy on Monday, responding to two vehicle fires, both on the new Highway 97 between Winfield and Vernon.

Up to 10 firefighters responded to both incidents as first a logging truck caught on fire and then later in the afternoon, a tow truck.

No injuries were reported and traffic was disrupted for a time while crews battled to get the blazes under control.

The preliminary cause of the fires both appear to be mechanical in nature.
