A fire on a power pole in West Kelowna knocked out power to the Ross Road area Thursday afternoon.

According to West Kelowna Fire Rescue, at 12:43 p.m. crews were called to a report of a power pole on fire near the intersection of Ross Road and Stevens Road.

An engine from the department's Lakeview Heights fire station attended the scene and worked with BC Hydro to secure the area. Once B.C. Hydro crews were able to disconnect the power, the burning pole and hardware were safely extinguished.

Power in the Ross Road area will remain off until repairs are complete.
