Kelowna fire department reiterates importance of smoke alarms

A kitchen fire at a four storey condo on Casorso Road had the Kelowna Fire Department out in full force Tuesday morning.

"Upon arrival crews entered the unit and extinguished a small kitchen fire. The buildings fire sprinkler system had been activated by the fire and assisted with the extinguishment," said Dennis Miller, captain of the Kelowna Fire Department.

"Salvage and overhaul was completed to protect articles in the residence from water damage caused by the sprinkler."

A  Kelowna Fire Department Investigator has been called to the scene to determine a cause. Amount of damage is unavailable at this time.

The Kelowna Fire Department reminds everyone to check their smoke alarms regularly to be sure they are in good working order.
