Shelter Cove/Westside Road fire evacuation alert ends
The B.C. Wildlife Service branch's forest firefighting efforts coupled with some helpful rain this past weekend has enabled the evacuation alert for the Shelter Cove/Westside Road to be rescinded.
Forest firefighters are continuing to monitor the fire while working to fully contain the blaze, which had peaked at more than 500 hectares in size since it began more than a week ago.
For safety purposes untl the fire is under control, an area restriction has been issued for the Bear Creek OHV recreation site.
The public is asked to obey all warning and hazards signs and watch for any firefighters and fire suppression vehicles that are still working in this area.
