A grass and brush fire in the 1500-block of McKinley Road had fire fighters jumping Sunday afternoon.

A total of 25 fire fighters, using three engines, two bush trucks, a water tender and a command unit contained the one-hectare fire before any property damage was done.

The B.C. Forest Service responded with a Bird Dog to do aerial recon but air tankers were not needed. There were no evacuations although the fire burned within about 100 feet of a residence.

Fire fighters were called back Monday afternoon at 3:20 p.m. when the fire tried to spark back into life.
