Providing an education that acknowledges Canada’s colonial history and values indigenous knowledge is a recommendation that came out of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission last December.

Bringing that to fruition in the Central Okanagan School District is Kevin Kaiser’s job.

Kaiser is a member of the Stellat’en First Nation, a resource teacher and consultant on aboriginal education with SD 23 here in Kelowna.

The discussion is hosted by UBCO’s AlterKnowledge Discussion Series which brings people together to “discuss, share and (un)learn as a practice of decolonization.”

Kaiser is facilitating a discussion on aboriginal education in our schools tonight, 7p.m. Dec. 9, in the Salloum rehearsal hall at the Rotary Centre, 421 Cawston Ave.
