Police say the 24-year-old woman was scene talking on her phone moments before the crash.

On March 28 at 8:13 p.m., emergency crews rushed to the scene of the single-vehicle rollover on the 2700 block of Shannon Lake Road in West Kelowna.

“Witnesses and markings at the scene indicated that the northbound white Honda Civic lost control in a curve, left the roadway and rolled down a hill before it landed on its drivers side,” reported Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“The West Kelowna Fire Department required the jaws-of-life to cut the roof off the car to safely extract the woman from inside her vehicle.”

The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with what police believe to be non-life-threatening injuries.

“Witnesses reported to investigators that the woman was observed talking on her cellular phone moments before the crash,” added O’Donaghey.
