Clean up is under way today at the Royal Anne Hotel after a water pipe burst just past 11 p.m. Saturday night.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Bernard Avenue last night to find it was in fact water, not fire, that was the problem.

The water damage was limited to the main area and lobby area of the hotel.

An employee at the Royal Anne said a restoration crew spent much of the night mitigating the damage and work continues this morning.

After alarms rang at the hotel just past 11:15 p.m. last night and one fire engine responded.

Guests were initially evacuated but were allowed back into their rooms at around midnight.
