Kelowna resident charged with arson

A 22-year-old local man faces assault, resisting arrest and arson charges relating to Monday morning office fire in downtown Kelowna.

Kelowna RCMP have confirmed that Kelowna resident Cody Weninger, 22,  has been charged with assault, resisting arrest and arson stemming from an incident involving a fire in the downtown Kelowna offices of the Pihl Law Corporation.

Weninger made an appearance in court Tuesday morning and will return for another appearance on July 17.

The fire cause minimal damage but the alleged fire starter did get into scuffles with Pihl law office members and some firefighters were also injured when attempting to restrain him.
