No injuries in early morning house fire

Kelowna Fire Department were called at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday to a fire coming from the rear of a single family residence on Sutherland Avenue

On arrival fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the residence, said Kelly Stephens, Platoon Captain.

“The fire was quickly extinguished but not before causing considerable damage to the residence,” said Stephens, in a press release.

No occupants were home at the time.

Three engines, one rescue vehicle, Safety Officer and a Command Unit were on scene along with 16 fire personnel, BCAS, RCMP and Fortis

The fire cause is undetermined and will be investigated by Kelowna Fire and RCMP Fire Investigators.
