A portion of Eckhardt Avenue is closed to vehicles after a pedestrian was killed in a traffic incident shortly after 2 p.m. today.

Our reporter on scene reports there is a body covered by a sheet lying in the street, mid-block between Main and Martin Streets.

Several RCMP vehicles are on the scene, and a dump truck pulling a tandem trailer is stopped near the body and behind the police barrier.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth has confirmed that victim is male, killed when he was struck by the dump truck. No details are available yet regarding his age or identity.

The RCMP traffic analyst is on the scene and they are now waiting for the coroner.

On Wednesday, a man who was rafting down the Okanagan River Channel drown in the water; while just hours earlier another man died following a motorcycle crash in Okanagan Falls.

More on this to come.
