Police on the lookout for possible stolen car

The Salmon Arm RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating suspect vehicle

The Salmon Arm RCMP are asking people to be on the lookout for a vehicle possibly stolen out of Calgary.

At 2:15 a.m., police officers on patrol overnight were alerted to a suspicious vehicle at the fairgrounds by an alert security guard.

There were two men associated to the vehicle who were described as Caucasian and African American.

When the security guard asked the two what they were doin,g one fled over the fence a short distance and claimed to be looking for a friend.

Shortly after this, the security guard called police. The men left the immediate area but not before the plate on the vehicle was obtained by the guard.

It is an Alberta licence plate, ZRA 800 and matched the vehicle it was on – a Black 2007 Volkswagen GTI. A check of the plate revealed that it and possibly the vehicle were stolen from Calgary.

The men also failed to retrieve a duffel bag containing a drill and a wrench.

The security guard saw the vehicle near a couple of other businesses during his rounds.

“The Salmon Arm RCMP have no doubt that the duo was up to no good and probably attempting to break into businesses,” says a release from Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West.

After conducting extensive patrols the vehicle was not located by police.

If any member of the public was to locate the vehicle, contact 911 and report the location to police. Do not try to approach the occupants or stop the vehicle.

Single-vehicle collision

It was a long plunge for a driver in the early morning hours of June 14.

The Salmon Arm RCMP were called to a single vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Tappen that was called in at 4:30 a.m.

On arrival, police located the sole occupant of the vehicle, a female driver, who had gone over a 50-foot

embankment.

The vehicle had left the highway and rolled a number of times before coming to rest at the bottom. The 44-year-old female driver from Salmon Arm advised that she overcorrected while driving and lost control of the vehicle sending it off the road.

“Thankfully the driver suffered injuries that were relatively minor and was transported to hospital by ambulance to be checked out,” notes West.
