One man is dead after the stolen vehicle he was driving collided head on with a semi-truck on the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to RCMP the incident occured just before 7:30 a.m. on March 28, 4 kilometres west of Feild.

Emergency crews responded and confirmed that the male driver of the car was deceased. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

“At this time we believe that the passenger car, a White 2 door Infiniti G35, crossed the centre line into the oncoming lane,” says Sergeant Rob Haney with the RCMP Trans-Canada East Traffic Services unit.

Police can also confirm that the car had been stolen out of Calgary earlier in the week.

The Trans-Canada Highway was closed for several hours to allow for emergency services to respond and for the investigation to be completed.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and have not already spoken to police contact the Golden-Field RCMP at 250-344-2221.
