Violent Rutland attacks attributed to one man

A Kelowna man who allegedly went on a violent crime spree in Rutland is in police custody and facing multiple criminal charges.

A Kelowna man who allegedly went on a violent crime spree in Rutland is in police custody and facing multiple criminal charges.

Derrick Antoine already faced charges related to stabbing a woman in the back at a Franklyn Road  home Aug. 16 and now he has now picked up more, this time related to an alleged machete assault at Ben Lee Park a week earlier

That assault allegedly took place at the park Aug. 8,at 12:11 a.m.

"The victim had been physically kicked and punched countless times and had also sustained injuries as a result of allegedly being struck with a machete," said  Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, in a press release

Now Antoine is facing a number of criminal charges from the incident, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and obstruction of a Peace Officer.

Antoine is expected to appear next in Court on Sept. 6.
