West Kelowna firefighters rescue trapped construction worker

Worker trapped as upper level of truss system collapses in house under construction.

The collapse of a truss system for a West Kelowna house currently under construction trapped one worker who had to be rescued by West Kelowna firefighters.

The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon as firefighters arrived on the scene at about 2:40 p.m. from the Lakeview Heights and Westbank fire stations.

The crews used an aerial ladder truck to access the trapped worker from the Carrington Road house and lower him to the ground, where paramedics could provide medical care.

No further information was given as to the condition of the injured worker, as RCP and WorkSafe BC are continuing to investigate the accident.
