Camilo STANO

STANO – Camilo, who lived in Kelowna for the past 15 years and was a long-time resident of Nampa, AB, passed away on November 15, 2009 at the age of 83. Cam was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Apolonia, and two sisters, Jeanne and Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sophie of Kelowna, sisters Anna Nickonchak and Mary Duperron both of Peace River, daughters Sandra (Mark) Kornell of Kelowna, Susan (Ken) Burdeyney of Peace River and Jeanne (Darryl) Yusak of Edmonton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lacey, Candace, Vanessa,

Zachariah, Michael, Kristina, Marisa and Nicholas.

He was born in Lednica in the Slovak Republic on

July 18, 1926 and immigrated to Canada with his mother and older sister in 1937.  They joined his father who had immigrated to Canada a decade earlier to set up the family

homestead.  He married his wife Sophie Staynik, in

Nampa on November 11, 1954.  Cam and Sophie

successfully farmed five quarter sections until their retirement to Kelowna. In his spare time, Cam fished, kept bees and loved to play crib with his friends.  We invite friends to join for a celebration of Cam’s life Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road.
