GEORGE Opocensky

GEORGE Opocensky

(1930 – 2009)

Passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness on

October 5th at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his loving wife Olga, his son George, daughter-in-law Lynda and granddaughter, Maria. Born in Chrudim, Czechoslovakia, George and his family moved to Calgary, AB in 1970 where he worked for NOVA maintaining gas

turbines.  After many years spent camping at Christina Lake, BC, George and Olga moved to Grand Forks in 1993 where he wanted to retire.  Unfortunately, due to his failing health, they decided to move to Kelowna, BC in 2007.  George loved music and spent his younger years playing the accordion and the trumpet in his dad’s local band.  He enjoyed working around the house and never had anyone do anything that he could do himself.  The family wishes to thank all those that made the last few months easier on George and his wife, especially their long time friends Mike and Emily Kvacek, Joan Hama and their neighbours, Gerry and Lloyd Clark and Herb Wright. A Memorial Service for George will be held at Hansons’ Arbor Westwood Funeral Chapel 2541 Churchill Road, Westbank, BC on Tuesday October 13 at 11:00 AM. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hansons Arbour Westwood.
