Gerald (Gerry) Peder Vall

VALL, GERALD (GERRY) PEDER

Born in Naicam, SK to Peder and Petra Vall on June 20, 1939 , passed away September 3, 2011 aged 72 years.  Survived by wife Marie of 44 years, son Darren (Heather) and their son Brett, daughter Denise and her children Devin, Taylor and Sarah, brother Raymond (Vicki), sister Sheila (Vern) brother Brian (Aiko) and many nieces and nephews. Also Marie’s family Bernice, Gladys, Harvey (Margaret) Pauline and their children.

Predeceased by his

parents, sisters Evelyn and Irene, Marie’s parents Murdo and Maude Taylor, Marie’s brother Archie and brother-in-law Sam Yager.  Also many four legged buddies whom he loved deeply.  Gerald worked very hard all of his life to take good care of his family, working well into his sixties.  Gerald built and repaired Pioneer grain elevators in Saskatchewan.  He and Marie married in 1967 and moved to Kelowna in 1969.  Gerald was a long time building contractor in Kelowna

retiring in late 2006 when he became sick.  He also played hard, snowmobiling into his sixties with Darren and the boys; Jeff, Derek, Gene, Luke, Tony and many others, when grandson Devin got big enough he went along too.  Gerald stayed up late many nights modifying his sled so he could beat the boys and put high marks on the mountain.  Marie was sworn to secrecy to not tell Darren what he was doing.  He still had his first snowmobile from 1967.  Thanks to his many friends who visited while Gerald was in the hospital for the last nine months – Al, Jeff, Jack M., Mark, Tony, Eamon, Derek, Gene and anyone else we may have missed.  He is finally at peace and free of pain and with his Dad in

Heaven.  A family service will be held in Saskatchewan at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crohns & Colitis Foundation, 151-32500 South Fraser Way, Suite 213, Abbotsford, BC V2T 4W1.
