1933 ~ 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Horst Thoma announces his passing on Thursday, August 10, 2017 peacefully and with dignity at the Kelowna General Hospital. Horst was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Maria, and his two faithful companions Rocky and Sparky. Left to mourn his passing are his two sisters, Waltraud of Rorschach, Switzerland and Inge (Klaus) of Fredrichshafen, Germany, children Glenn of Goldach, Switzerland, daughter Susan (Rick) of Kitimat, BC, and his beloved grandchildren, Collin, Brittany (Kevin), Derek (Jaz), Julian (Fabienne), Ryan (Carina) and Candice (Andy). Horst lived in Lake Country for 37 years, first in Oyama and then Winfield. He enjoyed a quiet life, his daily walks, playing badminton weekly, and his many hours squeezing his beloved Gola. Horst would make the occasional trip back to the North Coast where he for many years had enjoyed mountain climbing, skiing, fishing, and hunting and his vacations back to the old country where he enjoyed his quality time with old friends and extended family. Play for the angels now Dad! Until we meet again. Cremation, no service per Dads request.
