REYNOLDS, John William
John William Reynolds passed away on March 30, 2017 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 98.
John was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1918. He came west during the depression to Burnaby, BC where he met Phyllis, who became his wife. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1940. They soon moved to Port Alice, where their children were born. The family moved to Kelowna (Rutland) in 1953, and John went to work as custodian/maintenance at the Seventh Day Adventist Academy (old & new). He retired at age 60 and enjoyed years of travelling.
Throughout his life, John had a passion for woodworking, and spent many, many happy hours tinkering in his shop. He also enjoyed walking – and in encouraging others, he was often heard to say “You have to push yourself.”
Sadly, John was predeceased by Phyllis in July of 2005.
He is survived by his children: Louise (David) Price and Larry (Shirley) Reynolds; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many good friends.
John’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at The Rutland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 130 Gerstmar Road, Kelowna, BC V1X 4A7. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
