ELDERKIN: LAWRENCE WILLIAM (Larry)
Larry passed away on March 19th at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Larry leaves to mourn his wife Helen of 65 years. Daughters Kathy (Winston) Basque, Judy (Karl, Devin) Krissler, Grand dogs, Doogan and Smudge, and sister Betty Learn. Larry is predeceased by his parents John and Effie, Step Mother Dorothy Fletcher, and his Brother Wilbur. Larry was born in Apple River,
Nova Scotia and he joined the RCAF in 1946. Stationed in numerous places, including Portage LaPrairie,
Edmonton, Fort Nelson, Alymer, Chatham, Turkey, Greece, Bagotville, St Hubert, and finally Ottawa. Larry retired in 1977 as a Captain of Electrical Engineering, and moved his family to Kelowna. Larry enjoyed retirement but
needed to stay busy. He opened Larry’s Machine shop, Larry’s Clock shop and LEP Ltd. Larry will be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor and happy go lucky attitude. Everything is attainable if you want it bad enough. There was always a project on the go…..designing and building furniture was a favorite winter hobby. He loved playing crib, and Christmas was a special time of year, with all his family around him. Dad showed us how to live life to the fullest and appreciate the little things life has to offer. We would like to thank Sun Pointe Village for the wonderful care Larry received. An amazing group of ladies that treated Dad with the utmost respect. A special thank you to April, Chelsea, Donna and Brenda…..you made a difference! Also a big thank you to Dr. Larry Bobyn for his exceptional commitment to looking after Larry. As per Larry’s request there will be no service.
