Leslie Albert WAITE

WAITE,

Leslie Albert

passed away peacefully at home November 3, 2009. Born in London, England on February 7, 1922. Survived and greatly missed by his wife, Molly (of 62 years); daughter, Wendy (Bill) Steciuk; grandchildren, Rob (Nicole) Steciuk, Tara (Jay)Sinclair; great grandchildren, Haley, Naomi, Bowen, Titan, Dylan, Montanna; brother, Bob (Betty) Waite of Ottawa; three nephews and a niece. Leslie retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after a 28 year career in the navy and the air force, including postings in Ottawa, Cold Lake and Germany. He was a keen member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians since 1957, having

entertained and performed his specialty of close-up magic for charities, friends, local citizens, businesses and his family. In his retirement he & Molly started a successful engraving business, enjoying the social aspects of meeting the public and serving the needs of the many jewellry stores and businesses in Kelowna. They could both be seen dining at a few of their favourite restaurants where the staff always welcomed them with their favourite beverages, inevitably requesting a short show of magic to the delight of many patrons. He enjoyed RV’ing with good friends, often to Gardom Lake, dancing, the sports of curling and golf, for as many years as he was able. One of his greatest hobbies was flyfishing the mountain lakes around

Kelowna with his son-law Bill, who will truly miss his companionship and shared laughter. A regular Royal Canadian Legion member for 37 years in Kelowna he often attended many functions and ceremonies, once being on the Branch’s crib team that represented B.C. in a national Legion championship in Eastern Canada.  As he was often heard to say, “good show”and rest in peace. No service by request but those wishing to honour his memory, may make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon. Arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, 250-860-6440. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.everdenrust.com
